Blair, who plays Dr. Kate Wales in the FX comedy, angered Sheen by complaining to producers about his lateness and poor work ethic. Sheen found out about Blair’s comments and felt that she was out of line since he is the star. He also referenced the fact that he has 40 pages of lines per episode, while Blair only has two pages.
Insiders are also saying that Sheen wants to extend an offer to Mila Kunis for a 10-episode arc at $1 million an episode. Kunis is dating Ashton Kutcher, who took over the lead in Two and a Half Men after Sheen was fired in 2011. CBS announced that Kutcher had joined the series in May, and he was quoted as saying, “I can’t replace Charlie Sheen but I’m going to work my a** off to entertain the h*** out of people!”
Anger Management is based, in name only, on the 2003 film starring Jack Nicholson and Adam Sandler, with Sheen playing a role loosely similar to the one originated by Nicholson. The series debuted in June 28, 2012 and broke a ratings record with 5.74 million viewers tuning in for the premiere. The series also ranks as the most-watched sitcom premiere in cable history.
Sheen’s Charlie Goodson is a former minor league baseball player who becomes an anger management therapist. Blair’s Dr. Wales is Charlie’s therapist, with whom he has a “friends with benefits” relationship.
The second season of Anger Management premiered on January 17, 2013, and FX is planning to air 90 episodes over the next two years, meaning the network would be able to put the series into syndication by fall 2014. Charlie Sheen’s father, Martin Sheen, appeared in an episode of the first season, and is expected to appear in 20 of the back 90 episodes.
Do you think Selma Blair should be fired from Anger Management, or is Charlie Sheen overreacting?
